A microjournaling app
POSTAL MOBILE APP
UI/UX | BRANDING | MOTION DESIGN
Gather your thoughts at night.
Microjournaling during the day.
Problem Statement:
At the end of the day, when it is time to sit down and journal, it can be difficult for people to remember the events, emotions, and details that occurred throughout the day.
Proposed solution:
Postal aims to solve this problem by allowing users to send messages to themselves throughout the day. At the end of the day, the user can review their messages before writing their journal entry.
My role:
As the Product Designer & Motion Specialist, I managed the end-to-end lifecycle of the project. This included developing the initial product strategy, designing the mobile UI/UX, creating custom illustrations, and executing motion graphics to define the app’s bright and bouncy personality.
Hi there!
Sometimes, when I sit down to journal at night, it’s hard for me to remember what I did during the day. If you send me messages with what you do throughout the day, I’ll send them back to you in a letter so you can write in your journal later. I look forward to hearing from you!
Your friend,
Dandelion
After identifying the problem of struggling to recall a day’s events when it’s time to journal, I drafted documentation to define the user journey and established the “Dandelion” mascot to humanize the process.
I established a bright and bouncy countryside coastal aesthetic. This involved selecting a high-contrast, vibrant color palette and an approachable illustration style to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Developed clean, accessible mobile interfaces in Figma. I focused on a “message-first” architecture to minimize the friction between having a thought and recording it.
Utilizing Rive and After Effects, I implemented high-impact, bouncy transitions and parallax environments that were designed to provide tactile satisfaction during user interactions.
Lastly, I documented all screens, interactions, and a product roadmap to track design iterations and technical requirements for future development.
